Police say they have identified two juveniles who managed to escape from deputies after a stolen SUV crashed violently into another vehicle during a police pursuit.
Kent County sheriff’s deputies said there were five people in the SUV and, with the help of a construction worker, they captured three soon after the crash.
Police began pursuing the SUV about 7:15 a.m. Thursday, July 21. The SUV was on East Beltline Avenue and disregarded a stop sign at Burton Street, colliding with another vehicle.
Police released dashcam video of the pursuit later Thursday.
The other vehicle overturned and the driver was injured, but deputies said the injuries were not believed serious. The captured teens were ages 14, 15, and 18.
In a Friday, July 21 update, deputies said the other two people in the SUV, both juveniles, had been identified. They are not yet in custody.
Kent County sheriff’s Sgt. Eric Brunner said detectives expect to submit a report to prosecutors for potential charges against the two juveniles.
