New Launch: Haval H5 SUV
Great Wall Motors is set to unveil the Haval H5, its largest SUV to date, on August 21, with a starting price of around 150,000 yuan ($20,600). The SUV, designed for both urban and rugged terrain, has been available for reservations since August 10 with a minimal deposit of 99 yuan ($13.60). This marks a significant leap from the compact SUV version of the Haval H5, which was discontinued in 2018 after eight years on the market.
Dimensions and Features
The Haval H5 boasts substantial dimensions, measuring 5190 mm in length, 1905 mm in width, and 1835 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3140 mm. Its off-road capabilities are impressive, featuring a 25° approach angle, a 22° departure angle, a 200 mm ground clearance, and a wading depth of up to 600 mm. Inside, the SUV includes a spacious five-seater layout with leather upholstery, a 12.3-inch central control screen, a 10.25-inch LCD instrument panel, and Tencent’s TAI3.0 infotainment system, complemented by physical air-conditioning controls and a 360° camera.
Performance and Powertrain
Under the hood, the Haval H5 offers two engine options: a GW4C20B 2.0T gasoline engine and a GW4D20M 2.0T diesel engine, paired with a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission. The gasoline engine comes in two variants, producing either 145 kW or 165 kW with a peak torque of 400 Nm, while the diesel engine offers 122 kW. Additionally, the SUV features a standard BorgWarner four-wheel drive system, enhancing its versatility across various driving conditions.
