Upgrading from an 11-Year-Old Nissan X-Trail: Top Luxury SUV Choices

After coming to terms with the high prices of new vehicles, we’re ready to choose a replacement for an 11-year-old Nissan X-Trail that has seen 73,000 kilometers. We’re exploring various options and would appreciate insights from experienced members to finalize our decision.

Evaluating Options: Mercedes, Lexus, BMW, and More

We started by considering the Mercedes-Benz GLC but were deterred by its bulky transmission tunnel, which limits rear seating space, and a lack of advanced features like four-zone climate control. The Lexus NX350 impressed with its hybrid engine and tech features, but the excessive plastic interior and poor cabin durability were major drawbacks. The BMW X3, while well-driven and spacious, felt underwhelming, especially with rumors of an upcoming redesign.

The Contenders: Discovery Sport, XC60, Macan, and Upcoming Velar

The Land Rover Discovery Sport offers a robust build and ample rear space, though its boxy design and service reliability have raised concerns. The Volvo XC60 stands out for its advanced technology, competitive pricing, and lower maintenance costs, but its rear seats and limited dealer network are worth considering. The Porsche Macan, despite its driving pleasure and exclusivity, comes with high costs for basic features. The upcoming Range Rover Velar is another intriguing option, potentially matching the Macan in pricing and maintenance.

Seeking Final Recommendations

Currently, the XC60 and Macan are leading our choices. We’re also keen to explore the new Velar and would value feedback on its potential. We look forward to your advice on comparing these models and any other recommendations to consider.
