Jeep’s Electric Expansion: The Arrival of Wagoneer S
Jeep has officially announced the U.S. release of the Wagoneer S this fall, marking it as a 2025 model. This electric midsize SUV first made its debut in 2022 alongside other innovative models like the electric Recon and the subcompact crossover Avenger. Although the Avenger has been introduced in Europe as Jeep’s inaugural EV, there are currently no plans to market it in the U.S.
Global Strategy and Performance Specs of Wagoneer S
Initially launching in the U.S., the Wagoneer S is set to extend Jeep’s electric vehicle offerings globally, becoming the brand’s first worldwide EV. This SUV blends traditional Wagoneer luxury with robust off-road capabilities and impressive electric performance, featuring 600 horsepower and acceleration from 0-60 mph in about 3.5 seconds, supported by Jeep’s 4xe all-wheel-drive technology.
Design and Technical Innovations
The Wagoneer S sports a more aerodynamic design than typical Jeep models, featuring a sleek, swept-back grille with LED accents to enhance efficiency. While specific technical details remain under wraps, it’s anticipated to utilize Stellantis’ STLA Large platform, crafted for premium mid-size and large EVs. Looking ahead, Jeep plans to electrify its full-size Wagoneer lineup with a series plug-in hybrid option next year and a fully electric model by 2027.
