On Saturday morning, a tragic accident in Brentwood resulted in the death of a motorcyclist, Gabriel Reyes, who was involved in a head-on collision with an SUV. Reyes, a 50-year-old resident of Bay Shore, was riding his 2018 Kawasaki westbound on Spur Drive North when he veered across the double yellow line and struck a 2011 Ford Explorer traveling in the opposite direction. The crash occurred around 11:40 a.m., approximately 300 feet west of Route 111.

Gabriel Reyes was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore but was pronounced dead upon arrival. The driver of the Ford Explorer, 38-year-old Edwin Espinoza from East Rockaway, was unharmed in the incident. Both vehicles have been impounded for further safety inspections as detectives continue to investigate the cause of this heartbreaking accident.
