Another drag strip has abruptly closed. Atco Dragway in South Jersey ended a weekend event, only to announce the next day it is closing for good. What’s going on?

It has happened again. After the final NHRA national drag race at Bandimere Raceway in Denver last week comes news that South Jersey’s Atco Dragway in Camden County is closing immediately after 63 years of racing. Tracks seem to be falling like flies at this point. Here is yet, another famous drag strip that will be no more. But its closing leaves many shocked as there was no hint it would happen.

Yesterday Atco Dragway posted this announcement on its website and Facebook page. “Effective immediately: Atco Dragway is permanently closed. Thank you for your valued business and support over the last 63 years.” That’s it. This is all we know.

CBS 3 in Philidelphia approached a man who said he was the owner but asked the crew to leave the premises without commenting on the closing. So it is still a big mystery why the legendary track would just suddenly close. It just held a regional event at the track this past weekend. And it was holding another one this coming weekend. That, obviously, won’t be happening.

Atco Dragway began quarter-mile racing back in 1960. Since then, it has been one of the go-to tracks for drag racers in the East. It fed off of enthusiasts locally from New Jersey to Philly, New York, Maryland, and Delaware. “We will not be open from this point on,” it said on Facebook. “The remainder of our schedule for 2023 will be canceled. Thank you all for your patronage and memories over the years.”

What is replacing Atco Dragway?

There was a full schedule of events through November. Many told ABC Philadelphia that nothing indicated this would happen. “This whole thing was kept hush-hush and quiet. And we don’t know what’s going on,” said Marc from Atco, New Jersey.

Bordering the drag strip are the New Jersey Pinelands. When contacted, an official said there had not been any applications for development at the former track. There was talk that an auto insurance auction company might purchase the property. But 42Freeway says the company found another location for its auctions.

How many drag strips have closed recently?

This follows the end of drag racing at nearby Englishtown Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in 2018. But plenty of other famous strips like Englishtown have seen their end in recent years. Denver’s Bandimere Raceway just held its last NHRA national event last week.

Then there is Houston Raceway Park, Wild Horse Raceway in Arizona, and Auto Club Dragway in Southern California, to mention only a few. And while there are rumors that there is a substitute parcel for Bandimere, many racers don’t hold out hope it will ever happen.

Is there any place left to drag race in Philadelphia?

This comes at a time when street racing and takeovers have become an epidemic. With no place to face off in grudge matches or otherwise blow off steam in a safe environment, this is what happens. People wanting to race take it into their own hands, sometimes with disastrous results.

The good news is the famous Maple Grove Raceway in Mohnton, Pennsylvania, is still scheduling events. Located in a pocket between Allentown, Harrisburg, Philadelphia, and Lancaster, it holds the Pepboys NHRA Nationals in September. We hope it continues for decades to come.

Speaking of magazine, the X13 Auto gets access to an incredible 50 Round Drum which is perfect for Warzone. A magazine of this size makes sure that you always have bullets available to down enemy players and it reduces how frequently you have to reload.

The last two attachments are flexible but we like the Impact Point barrel and FJX DIOD-70 laser. The barrel improves recoil control and hip fire accuracy at the cost of mobility while the laser provides a huge boost to Aim Down Sight Speed and Sprint to Fire Speed keeping the X13 snappy.

With it being a pistol the X13 Auto has fantastic mobility. To take advantage of this it’s best to use Double Time which increases the duration of Tactical Sprint and makes crouch movement speed 30% faster.

Unusually, Spotter excels with this loadout as it lets you identify and avoid enemy Proximity Mines and Claymores when playing aggressively. This partners well with High Alert which provides crucial intel by highlighting the enemy’s location when they aim at you from behind.

For equipment, we recommend running both a Throwing Knife and Smoke Grenade. The former is perfect for finishing off downed targets and saving shots for potential team wipes. Then Smoke Grenades are perfect for creating cover in open areas to make moving around the map easier.

How to unlock the X13 Auto in Warzone 2

The X13 Auto is unlocked in Warzone 2 by leveling up the X12 pistol to weapon rank Level 10. Meanwhile, the X12 can be unlocked by reaching player rank Level 31.

Getting both the player rank levels and gun rank levels to unlock the X13 Auto can be done in Warzone, multiplayer & DMZ, with all three core game modes rewarding XP.

Best X13 Auto alternatives in Warzone 2

Since the X13 Auto is an automatic pistol it’s only natural to recommend the other gun that fits this description, the FTAC Siege. The Siege doesn’t have as competitive a time to kill as the X13 but it’s still a strong overall choice that’s easy to use.

Alternatively, you can try using the other handgun that’s currently dominating Warzone’s close-range meta, the Basilisk Akimbo. At least within its effective range, the Basilisk with Snakeshot rounds kills faster than any other weapon in the game.

F Sport Handling

With the NX F Sport Handling trim, you can expect 20-inch black wheels, rain-sensing wipers, a sport-tuned adaptive suspension system, a 10-inch display, and sport-designed front seats. With only the standard features, this version starts at $49,065.

You can upgrade this model with a Luxury package, which will add items such as driver’s seat memory settings, an upgraded voice control system, and a power liftgate with a kick sensor system.

While each trim offers some pretty awesome features, none of these are the most popular trim offered, according to Edmunds.

The most popular trim many NX vehicle owners gravitate toward appears to be the Premium model, which is a step up from the base and begins at $47,015. You’d think one of the higher trims would be more appealing with top-notch luxury features like a larger infotainment screen or larger wheels, but this version seems to outshine the rest. Why is that?

One possibility is the list of extras that it offers for a more affordable price than the higher trims bring. For example, you get the same features as the base but it adds low-speed automatic braking, a sunroof, power-adjustable steering, parking sensors, and ventilated front seats.

With this model, you can opt for a 14-inch touchscreen and a 17-speaker Mark Levinson audio system for a little more money. This way you don’t have to pay more for items you may not need in your daily driving experience.

What will the 2024 Lexus NX offer?

The 2024 Lexus NX is currently set at $44,065 to start with many of the same features as the 2023 model, including the engine specs. This version offers 21 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the highway, and 24 mpg combined.

As for changes from the previous version, don’t expect a whole lot. The few items that are new this year won’t have any effect on its performance, they are mostly aesthetic-based.

According to Car and Driver, you can expect some new interior colors for the cabin and the brand decided to make some of the color-keyed elements to the interior as well. Lexus also added a remote parking feature to the 350h and the 450h+, while the 450h+ F Sport will now come with your choice of a regular sunroof or a panoramic one.

Cargo space on this model is pretty average with 23 cu-ft of storage behind the rear seats. The total cargo capacity is only 46.9 cu-ft of space, which should be enough to haul around groceries or a small family’s bags for trips.

The Lexus NX has a handful of trims to choose from for the 2023 version, but the Premium level is the one that stands out. While it’s not easy to say why, its list of extras and affordable pricing clue us into why it could possibly be the most popular.
