The eastbound SUV was caught off guard by the cyclist coming from the opposite direction.
Factors Contributing to the Collision

Safety Precautions and Community Responsibility
This unfortunate accident underscores the necessity of proper safety gear, such as reflective clothing and lights on bicycles, particularly during nighttime. Adhering to these safety protocols can significantly reduce the risk of accidents and is often mandated by law to enhance road safety. The involvement of the community in providing crucial information can help clarify the specifics of such incidents and aid in preventing similar future accidents.
On a seemingly typical Tuesday morning in Las Cruces, New Mexico, tranquility turned to chaos when an SUV, driven by a 69-year-old woman, crashed into a local Savers store, leading to catastrophic results. Just before 10 a.m., the vehicle penetrated the store’s glass and aluminum front, careening through the self-checkout zone and coming to a halt inside the showroom. The ladder-frame SUV receives subtle visual enhancements and a few updates within the cabin
The 2024 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport receives a minor facelift with revised exterior styling and a few interior updates.
This is likely the last update before a complete redesign expected in 2025.
The Pajero Sport is now exclusively all-wheel drive in the Australian market, while Thailand gets a new diesel.
Mitsubishi held off on a full redesign for its Pajero Sport SUV, following the recent introduction of the all-new Triton / L200 pickup. However, to bridge the gap until the next generation arrives in 2025, they’ve given the existing Pajero Sport a subtle facelift with some minor exterior and interior tweaks.
The 2024 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport looks quite familiar, but a closer look reveals the new styling details. These include a redesigned grille insert with a new honeycomb pattern on the center intake and a different lower bumper garnish. Mitsubishi also introduced a new set of 18-inch wheels and added a new Blade Silver color option, also available with the Triton.
In addition, the flagship Pajero Sport GSR gains a heavier dose of black exterior trim (mirrors, door handles, tailgate handle), and a new Graphite Grey color option combined with a black roof. Finally, the black extensions of the headlights, previously exclusive to the GSR, are now standard in the entire range.
The highlight inside is the new three-spoke steering wheel, borrowed from the Triton pickup. The high-spec Exceed and GSR also benefit from new graphics for the 8-inch digital instrument cluster. The GSR features a quilted two-tone burgundy and black synthetic leather upholstery, creating a more luxurious environment, combined with dark titanium inserts. As for the entry-level GLX, it now comes standard with auto headlights and wipers.
Note that the above information is for the AU-spec models, as in Thailand the high-spec Elite Edition trim of the Pajero Sport has an extra fold-down 12.1-inch screen for the rear passengers.
2024 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport GSR (Australia)
In the Australian market, the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is fitted with the same 2.4-liter turbodiesel engine producing 178 hp (133 kW / 181 PS) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque. However, in Thailand, the model gains the newer 2.4-liter turbodiesel from the Triton, which makes slightly more power, at 181 hp (135 kW / 184 PS). In Australia, the RWD trims have been discontinued, meaning that the Pajero Sport is exclusively available in 4WD form with the eight-speed automatic transmission.
Pricing for the 2024 Mitsubishi Pajero in Australia ranges from AU$ 51,540 (US$ 33,428) for the entry-level five-seater GLX, and goes all the way up to AU$ 64,840 (US$ 42,055) for the seven-seater flagship GSR trim. In Thailand, the model is priced between 1,389,000-1,579,000 THB ($37,391-42,506). Rivals include the Toyota Fortuner and the Isuzu MU-X truck-based SUVs.
The third-gen Mitsubishi Pajero was originally introduced in 2015, with a comprehensive facelift following in 2019. The second and milder update for 2024 will most likely be the last, as an all-new generation is rumored to be under development.
A new series of Bentley Bentayga special editions has been announced, with a focus on performance and personalisation.
The Apex Edition is the latest addition to the Bentayga range. The luxury SUV features sportier styling, plus plenty of carbon fibre components.
Bentley’s bespoke Mulliner department has created six themes for the Bentayga Apex Edition, ranging from subtle to extravagant. Alternatively, customers can opt for a completely bespoke car, tailored to their individual taste (or lack of, potentially).
There is also a special Le Mans-inspired colour scheme available, with sales limited solely to those who already own a Bentley Continental GT or GTC Le Mans Edition.
Carbon captured
Being based on the Bentayga S V8 means the Apex Edition can muster a substantial 542hp and 568lb ft of torque. The headline numbers are 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 180mph.
Bentley has added a set of Mulliner 22-inch alloy wheels, crafted from lightweight carbon fibre, which reduce unsprung mass by a considerable 24kg. They are also said to improve steering response and even reduce tyre wear.
Carbon ceramic brakes are also fitted as standard, shaving another 20kg from the Bentayga’s kerb weight.
More carbon is used for the front splitter, rear spoiler, side sills and door mirror caps, along with on the dashboard. Completing the package, carbon Apex Edition badges can be found on the Bentayga’s rear pillars.
Go as bold as you like
Of the six Mulliner-created themes, the one pictured here is the first choice on Bentley’s list.
Providing an example of what is possible, it combines bold Candy Red exterior paintwork with an Anthracite body stripe. The latter is highlighted by Arctic White pinstripes.
On the inside, Arctic White and Hotspur leather upholstery are used throughout the cabin. More Arctic White features as the contrast stitching, seat piping and around the carbon fibre dashboard trim.
Owners of the Le Mans Edition Continental models can have their Apex Edition finished in Verdant Green, with a contrasting Moonbeam racing stripe.
The sky is the limit
Production of the Bentayga Apex Edition is limited to just 20 examples worldwide. Customers will be encouraged to work with the bespoke Mulliner team, helping craft their perfect specification for the luxury SUV.
Given the level of customisation on offer, Bentley has not released prices for the Apex Edition. As a guide, however, the standard V8-powered Bentayga S starts from just over £200,000.
We suspect those considering a unique Bentayga will be limited only by their imagination, rather than by their bank balance.
